When I try to upload pics to a website I get an error message that the file is to big. Can I shrink the files?

I'm trying to put pics on a dating site. They're just ordinary pictures shot with a sony digital camera. Its a little bit of an older camera, is it possible I need a new one?

First look for a picture quality setting on the camera. The better quality picture you set it for, the larger the file.

Paint or almost any other image program will let you crop or shrink pictures also. I use something called LViewPro.

In PAint, because almost everyone has it, open the picture, click Image in the menu and Stretch/Skew. Reduce it by the same percentage both horizontally and vertically and save, preferably with another name to let you keep the original.

Try this. Even on older cameras, there are usually settings for picture size and quality. Choose a couple of lower resolution sizes and also try different quality settings.

Chances are that one of them will successfully upload to the website. If not, there are free programs to resize photos. Try www.downloads.com and search for digital photography.

    Hope this helps.
