Instant oatmeal - can I make it with cold water? Can I make regular oatmeal with cold water as well?
I'm not crazy about hot food, and if you leave oatmeal ito cool, it gets either too solid or broken down. Even if more time is involved, can I let it sit and it will become tasty oatmeal?

If it's instant oatmeal it will eventually soak up the water, so you're fine. It just takes longer.

Just add cold water, a little less than u usually use. Let it soak for about 10 minutes, stir, then soak another 10 minutes. The oats never expand but they get to a palatable texture. You can cover it and it s still good hours later.
I eat a lot of it because its healthy and excellent for digestion..I also keep a lot of it, in the case of an emergency e.g., (grid down) and hot water may not be readily available.

Maybe add milk. I think either one will work. If it isn't good cold then cook, cool a bit and then add cold milk. Or cook it half time and it would be in between let cool a bit and then cold milk or water. Thats how I do it. I cook half time in micro and then put in a cool bowl and stir in cold milk.
