You have to back off the brake shoes. When brake shoes wear into the drum they leave a lip on the drum if you back off the shoes it will clear this lip. This is a very common problem .

You should probably have the drum checked to see if it should be replaced.

    Good Luck

To remove the rear drum on your car you will First need to release the tension of the brake pad to the drum by removing the rubber cap on the back of the plate and turn the adjuster( a flat head screwdriver and a good light should work) so that the drum turns freely. Then you remove the dust cover using a flat tipped screw driver and work it all the way around until it comes off. Next remove the cotter key using pliers to straiten the tabs and pull (from the rounded end)so the pin comes out. Then you remove the nut. BE CAREFUL because now is when you should be able to pull the drum off and it is sitting on two sets of bearings. if it does not come off freely you may need to move the adjuster as explained before...Hope i was helpful and good luck

Release the e-brake and pull the drum off. If it's stuck you can tap it with a hammer to loosen it, or if it has 2 small screw holes thread some screws in the holes to push the drum out.

First spray some rust penatration spray on the studs to loosen rust build up. then use a large hammer to break it loose. you will do this by hitting the flat drum surface between the lug studs. hit it hard between all studs and it should come loose and allow you to slide it off.

Don't forget to take off the parking brake. It's a common mistake.
