Windows XP logon user interface error?

When i log onto my pc i get the logon user interface dll msgina.dll failed to load message. According to microsoft support, i should be able to use the advanced windows options to reboot with the last known good configuration. When i do this, it just boots up with the error again.

Does anyone know what i can do? I REALLY don't want to have to re-format. I just did 2 months ago..... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update:

No, I am not able to start up in safe mode. I'm guessing due to the fact that the dll file is a system file. And the specific file is for logging on......

Can you boot up in Safe Mode and do a restore?

-- edited: then try booting with your XP setup CD and do a Repair.

(change your BIOS settings if it doesn't check your CD drive first on bootup)
