Why is the card game bridge called bridge?
I'm the chairperson of my uni's bridge club and one of my juniors asked this question. Was a tad embarrassed I didn't know the answer. Help if anyone knows please!

Four soldiers were ordered to guard a bridge for a long time. They tried this game of bridge because in it 1 soldier could take care of the bridge(Dummy)
