Buying new mobile phone. Nokia or Sony ericsson?

Should I buy a nokia or sony ericsson mobile phone? I was considering nokia 6500 classic(coming soon) and sony ericsson w580i. Can anyone tell me the specifications and prices of both phones and personal opinions on why both phones are good or bad?

Update:

L2B, the w580i is a new sony ericsson phone different from the w850i.

Well... if ur going for a nokia(and money isnt a matter) go for "Vertu", nokia's luxury series, which'll make heads turn!! Or the 6500 classic will also do the job for u.

But i have a Sony ericcson W850i and it's great! In ur question, i think u meant "W850i". It's a very good model. If u plan on buying this, go for the black version, cause the white seems a little... feminine. But then again, it's up to u.

Generally Yes, but it does depend on your definition. Although Sony Ericsson maybe fast at introducing new features, Nokia makes handsets that are more refined. Both handsets have strengths, Nokia's strengths are; - Popular use interfaces that is intuitive - Popular handsets thus there are lots of games, applications available. - Pioneers in several features; first phone with a radio, camera, Bluetooth, IR, Graphical user interface (communicator series), First in smartphone technology - Solid build quality - Reliability

I have used Siemens, Nokia and Samsung phones .. in that order. I switched from Siemens to Nokia, and really there is a world of difference between the two. Nokia is really friendly and easy to use. Why did I switch to Samsung? Partly because the Nokia phones these days are not designed fasionably, and partly because the Samsung L760 that I got has all the features I want, and at an affordable price.

So what are the factors you should consider? In my order, I would say:

    1. Functionality (ease of use)

    2. Functions

    3. Cost

    Just buy Nokia regardless.

My 2 friends buy an Ericsson at the same time. Both of them have it repair on different dates but within 3 months time. The Software used in Ericsson phone is prone to crash I think.

My Worst Experiance with Sony Xperia Tipo Dual,

    Date wise Facts:

    1) 2 Oct 2012-Bought new handset

    2) 6 Oct 2012-Motherboard changed

    3)4 March 2013- Software problems

    4) 9 May 2013- Motherboard changed, Handset problems

    5)22 May 2013-Software problems

    6) 29 May 2013-Audio Jack and Speaker Phone changed

    7)30 Aug 2013-Motherboad & Earspeaker changed

All these services are provided by Sony Service center within warranty period, But sony never gives you replacement for even faulty handsets in any condition.

    Worst experiance of mine.

Please never go for Sony Mobiles

Nokia brand (Not mobile phone) is better and more famous than Sony ericsson brand. However, I don't know whether the Nokia 6500 classic is better than Sony Ericson w581i. Check with the salesperson about those mobile phone and ask him/her which one is better.

if you are not a novice to phones then you MUST go for the sony ericsson. its battery life is far better than the 6500 regardless of what the specs say. My friend at phones 4u also says that as they are rushing the 6500 it will be prone to crashes (just like the sony E k800i) and you may need to constantly update it by downloading new patches

Well I would really recommend Nokia for it is user friendly. Sometimes in other phones its hard to look for a function or ways to get into text messaging. But if you are not choosy about its function, then I think Ericsson has more advantage with regards to sounds, they are expert in those things.
