I have had many great experiences helping people. The longer you live the more you realize that helping others to succeed in whatever they find valuable is a very fulfilling activity as long as you are just helping for the sake of helping and not looking to get a reward or recognition of some sort.

For me, helping people is very important: academically, emotionally, all the ways. I did have quite a few experiences, including one with one of the neighbors in an apartment complex. She broke down and cried because of a situation, and she desperately needed my support. And of course, I helped her through the moment all the way. Most of the time, I help people mentally/emotionally each time I see them upset-I cannot resist when I see someone crying and I can tell that they need a helping hand to lend.

I always enjoy helping others cause it makes me feel important to everyone in need as well as everyone who experiences a problem, whether it's major or minor.

My experience is that, if you take the right approach, you can do a lot of good. Most people work on too small a level or too narrow a scope. I have volunteered at a children's shelter in the administration side and I am getting my Master's in Public Administration to manage non-profits. In this way, I am able to help a lot of people effectively and efficiently.

My wife and I were both counselors at a Teen Challenge center. Teen Challenge, started by David Wilkerson on the streets of New York many years ago is a Biblically based drug-and-alcohol rehabilitation center with a VERY high retentivity rate (as high as 80% to 95%).

Even after we left the ministry, we have watched the local branch of this ministry continue to minister into the lives of young adults as God has miraculously changed people's lives for the better.

I have experienced that when I used to quickly say yes to people to help them, I was the one who was being used alot. Now I pray about it and let God allow me to say yes or no, and I am happier with that, because I am in His will and people cannot hurt me anymore.God doesn't want us to be people pleasers, He wants us to be God-pleasers and that is why many times I have to say no to people, they will end up using you.

I helped some people that were in prison. I sent some of them money. I helped some find places to live when they got released. 99% of them shafted me in one way or the other.

I have helped other people that weren't offenders or ex offenders Most of them didn't seem to appreciate it.

In general, when I help with result, I get appreciation. When I help but screw up, then I don't. Lesson: It's OK to help, just don't give up just because you screwed up in helping....

  • I keep jumper cables in my trunk. There's always someone who needs a jump, and hardly anyone has their own cables.

I swoop in, get 'em going, and disappear.
