more than likely the part called the cable reel is bad. this part is located just below the air bag and helps send info, power, and ground from your steering wheel switches and air bag. i have seen a lot of these that have intermittent problems. when the light goes on, no air bag deployment avaliable for your safety. lifetime warranty means no cost to you, just car in shop for day or two. easy fix, so maybe less time. get fixed as soon as possible. oh, and whenever the air bag light is on, it means that the air bags wll not work in a crash, not that they can deploy at any second. hope i could help.

I have the same car. I am sure mine has a passenger seat issue. If I move the seat up a notch or two the light goes out. I am looking into the sensor on the seat. From what I have read it costs about $250 to get it repaired by a mechanic. I also have a seat belt light that goes on. I giggle the belt on the drivers side and it goes off. I plan to attack that light next. One more thing This car is prone to a loose gas cap as well. I use caution when putting it back on. My car runs good but I would not buy another.

The light is coming on to let you know there is a fault in the system. When the light is on, the system is disabled. The airbag cannot deploy on its own because an airbag light is on. Two sensors have to trip before an airbag deploys. the light on means the system is disabled and probably will not go off in an accident.

Air bags have a lifetime warranty. I found this out when the airbag warning light came on for my 2002 Jeep.

Best take the car in when the light turns on. Most dealers suck at solving intermittent problems unless you can show up when the problem is occurring.

You might have a bad airbag sensor, you need to get it checked because the airbag could deploy prematurely and cause you to get into an accident, or it may not deploy when you do get into an accident and that can cause injuries
