i missed the view today. what did elizabeth say about whoopi's comments on vick/dog fighting.................

16 minutes into the show....Whoopi defends Michael Vick...

Whoopi says: "The Michael Vick thing, since we're all talking about dogs is, there are all of these very strong opinions and one thing I haven't heard anybody say is "ya know, from his background, this is not an unusual thing for where he comes from....he's from the deep South and dog-fighting is...."

Joy Behar: "what about the torturing and dog murdering though?"

Elisabeth said something over Whoopi and couldn't make it out....

Whoopi: "unfortunately, it's part of the thing.

For a lot of people...dogs are sport...

If it had been somebody from New York City my feelings would be very different but, this is a kid (Vick) and this is part of his cultural upbringing"

Elisabeth: "I hear you on that and I have heard that actually and I believe there are things in certain cultures that are acceptable...you know, in some cultures it's ok to beat your wife...in an overall way, it's not ok...(Joy saying something)...what impressed me even more in this situation was the NFL Commissioner Roger Cadell and companies like Rebok or other sponsors of his (Vick's)...his jersey was the number one selling jersey in the nation...more people were buying that jersey than most other products...so they cut the jersey and I think it was making a huge statement that..NO...we're not ok with this, and Roger Cadell suspended him even before he was convicted and I think that those statements being made by the "big guys" are actually really important to the people and the fans out there who watch him...so many people are watching him...and just because it's culturally acceptable...(everyone talks at once)...

Whoopi: I'm not saying it's culturally acceptable...I'm just saying that instead of saying he's a beast and his a monster that this is a kid that comes from a culture where this (dog-fighting) is not questioned..and that's what I'm talking about."

Joy: "will the other people who do this (air quote)"culturally"(air quote) stop it?"

Whoopi: "No, I dont' think they will...I really don't think they will..."

Joy: "Then, they'll have to be prosecuted."

Whoopi: "Well that's the whole point, that's the whole point of why this is getting there...I think it would be great if this is what would happen."

Barbara changes the subject to Job Benet Ramsey...

I only saw a few minutes of it but she was agreeing to most everything Whoopi said. I was kind of surprised!

Elizabeth, "I love Bush and think we should be fighting in Iraq."

Joy, "We are talking about Vick and dog fighting, not politics."

Elizabeth, "Oh, well in that case, everything is Clinton's fault."

As usual she had nothing interesting to contribute to the conversation...can't wait for her to go on maternity leave.
