What is the dining room table in your house used for?

Mine sees a lot of poker and laundry.

I wouldn't get a table cloth that would go down to the floor, a big tripping hazard and a hassle. If you sew at all, make a table cloth and then strips to cover the legs. Tie in the back. That way you won't fight the length of the cloth while trying to eat or sit at the table

    occasionally a meal

    mostly, laundry folding

    bookkeeping

    jigsaw puzzles

    pattern cutting

    measuring inseams (off the body)

it also holds up a box of Kleenex and a family picture and a calendar

Most useful piece of furniture in the house.

    collecting dust mostly.

the dining room in our house has become a guinea pig habitat - two enormous pens take up most of the area.

(I had no idea when I first got them that these little critters needed so much 'elbow' room!)

i like to pretend i sort my mail on it, but really it's just different piles from different days.

some of my cats actually like to use it as a dining room table tho.
