You might be a little curious after the first two answers so I'll try to expound a bit more.
The short answer is: Yes.
Most of the iron in your body is found in your blood. When even small amounts of blood are expelled like during your period, you lose iron. Just because the blood was already collected, your body was still using it.
This is why women sometimes need to take iron supplements - to replace that which is lost during menses. It's also why men shouldn't take women's vitamins which contain iron, as an excess of iron in the body can have damaging effects.
Hope this helped!

It can if you have what is called as menorrhagia...very heavy periods. The low iron count usually lasts four to five days after the stop of your period, and then starts to climb again. If you still have an anemic reading after this time period, there is more than likely something else to blame. I would consult with your GP and GYN for further testing.
Best of luck!

Very much so. Women need 3 times more iron than men. When you are on your period you are loosing a lot of blood. Keep eating lots of red meat, fresh beef and lamb is best.

Yes, it can, if the flow is heavy or if you tend towards anemia normally. Try to eat more iron-rich foods (dark green veggies like spinach) or red-meat. You can also take a one-a-day vitamin that has USDA recommended amount of iron in it. See if you feel better - more energy, etc. If not, see your doctor.

Yes... iron is a mineral that is found in your blood, and when you are on your period, you lose blood... so in many cases women have low iron...

God yes...it can. You lose so much blood. My mom was very anemic due to her periods. The thing I would tell you to do is eat lots of deep green veggies and take iron supplements and see a doctor!

Of course- you are losing blood which is creating your iron to be depleated. I sometimes become anemic when I have my period. It will tend to slow you down, make you tired, etc.

in certain cases...(those cases where you should go see a doctor) if you bleed a freakish amount, you can become slightly anemic temporarily
