What clever stuff could you do with a small powerful magnet?

I was thinking like you could tie it on a string and swing it through the bars to get the jailors keys.

Any other stuff?

Is it worth carrying a small powerful magnet with me at all times just in case?

See if you can find "neodymium" magnets. This is a type of rare earth composition which can be magnetized almost as strongly as samarium cobalt, but is 1/5th or less in cost. You do have to be a little careful with them because they tend to shatter, and small chunks of them can be knocked off rather easily. For that reason you may want to buy them encased in some other substance ... for instance a thin layer of plastic. You can get them nickel plated and this does provide some protection against chipping, but they are still a bit fragile.

I'd throw it through the window of an office that makes harddisc drives. Or try to attach it to my leg wich has a metal plate in it

When you go to view a used car, run it along the underneath. If it doesn't stick, you know they have used filler. Also you can use it one to stick a spare car key under your wheel arch incase you lose your other one while you are out.....but you've got to keep it a secret okay?

Embed a sliver of it into one of my fingertips. Then I could "feel" electrical current flowing.
