Outlook express messages?

So, I had to reformat my hard drive recently. I backed up all my documents and settings prior to the reformat and then restored them after the reformat. Everything seems to be fine EXCEPT I can't find my Outlook Express messages. They SHOULD have been in my documents and settings folder somewhere, but when I opened Outlook Express, it was if I had a new installation (no messages, and no internet settings). Any help??

Update:

Actually, I did find them after all. As I said, I had backed up my Documents and Settings directory, so I found them in the Documents and Settings\{My Name}\Local Settings\Application Data\Identites\{coded identity}\Microsoft\Outlook

Your messages are contained in .DBX files on your hard drive, so if you re-formatted you will not be able to retrieve that data.

Always back up your "message store" folder which contains the .dbx files, then you can restore them down the line.

I think what you've done is that you backup the wrong file for the outlook express, outlook express store its messages in a file (I forgot the extension name of that file), and it is stored in the directory of outlook express in program files>outlook express folder.

Or that file is not properly place into its right position, double check it first.
