DIESEL in GAS tank 2007 ford focus?
Well, had a big blonde brain fart, and put diesel in my car (yeah, want to kick myself) anyway, is there a lock in the gas hose? i can't siphon it out, on the other hand i wonder if there's a drain plug in the gas tank? anybody has any advice?
I filled up the tank, i got distracted as 2 guys were catching a fight right there at the gas station, had already paid so i thought' i'd fill up and get away as soon as possible...well, didn't go too far, now had my car towed to my home, seems like i'm going to have to send it to a mechanic shop...darn!
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUGGESTIONS! A friend from church came over last saturday and drained the diesel doing the gas pump thing, let the hoses drain, then he put some cleaner in it and high octane gas, my car has been running like nothing ever happened...thanks again for your handy tips!

If your car didn't stop on its own you may be all right. To make sure that you've drained the gas tank completely you'll have to pull it off. Next best think would be to pop the fuel line of the fuel rail, get a container, position the container to catch the fuel and cycle the key until no more fuel dumps out of the line. Change the fuel filter, fill the tank 1/4 with whatever gas you run and cycle the key a couple of times. hook the gas line back up and fire the car up.
If your car shut down on its own, you'd better take it somewhere because you ran a fuel that your engine will not burn.

Draining it will be the most expensive as this requires taking the tank off. If the tank IS NOT more than 1/2 full, this is what i would do.
1 Fill the tank with premium gas
2. go to Autozone and ask for a bottle of RXP gas additive 2-3 bottles
3 Pour the bottles in and then drive it to get the diesel out.
4 As the tank get lower on fuel put more gas in to dilute the diesel
Note
If you are in california, dont do this as they will give you a ticket

The fuel tank can be drained by hot wiring the fuel pump relay with the key on, remove the fuel line to the injectors and place in large container, obviously large enough to hold all the diesel. If you leave a little bit of diesel in it, it won't hurt but if you have almost a full tank it will hurt the catalytic converter. If you drain it to a quarter tank fill with gas and add a pint of automatic trans fluid you will be set.

DO NOT START THE VEHICLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Permanent engine damage WILL RESULT!!! There are no drain plugs in the tank, you will have take the gas tank off and drain it that way. I would suggest you have it towed to a garage and have them do it. If you already started it and drove it away, I would definitely have it towed to a garage and tell them that so they can check it out.

what ever you do don't start it and run it,its going to be had enough to clean out,,you,ll have to get the tank took off and cleaned real good,if it was ran any ,you might as well replace the fuel pump also,i just did a sunbird that was done like that ,it was a real mess to clean out ,just have it towed somewhere,if it starts it wont go far, then you really have a lot of problems to straiten out, good luck with it.

there should be an union in the fuel line somewhere under the car take it apart turn on the key and pump it in fuel cans if you only put in a little diesel dilute it down and drive it out

Call a tow truck and have it towed to a garage and have a professional drain it from front to back.

how much diesel did you put in? i ran my toyota on a tank of kerosene once (to prove a point). a little diesel wont hurt it, just make sure you have a full tank of gas to dilute it.

if it was an old car you could do it yourself, but with these new cars they make them so you need special tools to do any thing on them your best and safest way is to take it to a mechanic
