A reed is a thin strip of material which vibrates to make music. The reeds of woodwind musical instruments are usually made of Arundo donax; tuned reeds are made of metal or plastic.

Hmmm... I'm no expert, but I think Kaniel just means reed or stalk. If you wanted it to mean God is my reed, wouldn't you have to make it El Kaniel?

The name is of hebrew origin, and it means "the Lord supports me", this doesn't mean that "God is my reed" is incorrect, as rafts and walkways across soft ground were made out of reeds in ancient times
