PSP question....?

I just got a PSP without a charger from a friend.

I'm having trouble charging it, here's what I've done:

Got a USB connector/charger to connect with my computer, and plugged into my PSP

Do I have to enable the USB on my PSP for it to charge?

    i would cause it cant hurt or just buy a charger from best buy
