If Global Warming is Melting the Polar Ice Cap and New Orleans?

People need to realize that the media has a heavy liberal bias.Global warming is a fabrication that is intended to further the liberal agenda to destroy capitolism.Fear mongering and lies can be useful tools for immoral socialists.

I agree with what Mr. Morgen says about ice displacing the water. It melts and the sea level does not rise.

New Orleans needs better levees. Consider the fact that the Netherlands is below sea level. They've modernized their levees and sea walls though.

The real plan behind not rebuilding for a while is to make sure the poor and middle class people disburse, and sell their land for a pittance to "speculators." The levees will be repaired, the developers will come in, and build million dollar condos. Much of this will be done with federal grants and low interest loans. Mark my words.

If the polar ice cap is receding, there are several possibilities. One, the cap could be condensing, meaning what is lost in area is made up in density elsewhere. Another is that the water is somehow being absorbed in other land masses. Other glaciers could be expanding or thickening.

However, it is entirely possible that the oceans will soon (whatever "soon" means) rise, and that New Orleans is a lost cause.

I don't think the possibility is certain enough to justify forcing the relocation of New Orleans, but I think it is indeed enough to justify not rebuilding it on the current site with federal money.

No because there is no land under the northern polar ice cap. It's ice floating in water. If you have a glass of soda with ice and the ice melts, the level of the soda doesn't rise. That's because the ice already displaced the soda. The frozen water has simply become liquid water.

Land based ice in Antarctica and Greenland are different because it doesn't currently displace any water. If that were to change and that land ice were to fall into the ocean then water levels would rise.

You are correct, I said right away that New Orleans should not be rebuilt below sea level but at the time people were all emotional. N.O. is finished no matter what. The levies are a joke and the next hurricane will finish N.O. once and for all.

That N.O. was built there at all was because the French first landed at the mouth of the river after the spring floods, had they arrived a few weeks sooner N.O. would never had been built there at all.

Global warming is just a smokescreen and New Orleans should become a Federal Prison for death row inmates nationwide. Then build a New, New Orleans on higher ground. If nature should reclaim the land currently occupied by a the prison then we have only lost those that should have been executed by now anyway. Several problems can be easily solved by nature and better planning.

No, we should spend hundreds of billions in Iraq and just let the coastal and low-lying areas of the United States be submerged.
