A sole proprietorship is a business entity which is owned by an individual. Two sole proprietorships include the corner flower shop, "Mable's Flowers", which is owned by Mable Jones, and the corner market, "Ocean Market", which is owned by John and Jane Smith.
A partnership is a business entity which is owned by two or more individuals. Two partnerships include a local law firm, "Williams and Cray, Attorneys at Law", and the local accounting firm, "Dunn and Towers, Certified Public Accountants".
A corporation is a business entity which is incorporated in a state of the US, which is owned by shareholders, which is directed by a board of directors, and which manages its day-to-day affairs by officers, including a president, secretary and treasurer. Two corporations include Microsoft Corporation and Apple Corporation.
