For genuine cricket fans ! Is 20-20 a insult to crickets tradition??

If ODI is a pyjama cricket, 20-20 in underwear cricket. Its totally unacceptable cricket, nothing for geniune cricket fans to watch in that format, all rules and regulations have been relaxed, bowlers get no respect, its purely being played for commercial venture. If ICC feels that this will promote cricket, then its disappointing.Cricket has a rich tradition, its been played in few select countries, and it should be in that way only, who would like to watch India vs Chiana match or Australia vs USA match one day ? I hate 20-20 format, waht do u gusy say ?

All praise for the question & the logical text in aid of it. Sentiments/ Nostalgia or simply 'Keep the SPIRIT alive' are passe terms today, what more proof in support can be, than this version of game recieved with much elation & gaiety. Well, if the 'essence' is kept alive in this version, with a purpose of filling the off seasons only, and the test/ ODI are kept untouched, one can oversee these!

First of all, let me make my opinion clear-I am against 20-20.

I feel it is a cheap way to popularize the game. There is a lot of money in cricket now-a-days. Craze for more will work like a slow poison. 20-20 will make cricket a game of power rather than a game of techniques. Seeing the 20-20, no-body would like to become a bowler-he is the most pitiable character in the game.

Let the thought affect those who are "managers" of cricket!

on the contrary , 'am lookin forward to see how it fares, i'd be happy if it replaces the one day format as soon as possible.Being a genuine cricket why wouldn't you want Cricket to be played by more countries , i wonder ???

one day is getting too dull, with more teams like India, England,Srilanka playing it safe in the middle overs, where virtually nothing happens in the name of consolidation. The batsmen are happy nudging singles and the bowlers happy to get rid of the overs. From 20- 40 overs in some cases even till 45 we see nothing but SAFE PLAY BY BOTH FEILDING AND BATTING SIDES.

And there are hardly any interesting matches being played out [ 7 out of ten ODI'S are determined by either batting or bowling a side out of the game depending on the pitches.]

So Cricket's essence of batsmen going for his shots, and bowlers going for the wickets happen only during the first ten-fifteen and the last 10 overs. that's roughly around 25 overs. So i see that next natural evolution for cricket indeed is twenty twenty.

Chop off the middle twenty overs in ODI COS' NOBODY WATCHES THEM ANYWAY and lo' we gOT

TWENTY - TWENTY. it seems to be here, to stay.

well, m a true cricket fan n m proud to say and my fav form of cricket is test cricket but every body needs some fast excitement. i fully respect the format of one day internation and 20-20, even test are the premier form still there is no world cup for it. just coz 80% of the cricket fans dnt take that much interest in test than they take in one day games as they need fast excitement, exceptions are there like ashes, indo pak, etc etc. but dude the world changes the times change, so let the game also change a bit. thats my view!!

Too harsh words man......But surprisingly , its 150% true.To say it simple, its just a game for hard hitters and pinch hitters.Bowlers are the most pitiable personsin this form of cricket.I've already seen 20-20 to some extent in the domestic arena , and as far as Iam concerned , there is nothing to say great about this game.First of all , Iam not able to accept it as a form of cricket itself.Anyway , all the best for all the teams who are going to waste their time in this venture.......

    Anything new is always welcome

I want our batsman to play and 20-20 and become aggressive. This would help them to play ODI with ease.

I would have liked to Dravid to practice his batting in 20-20 and improve his strike rate
