crockpot: best brand?? why??
i have a rival smartpot -- it's ok but seems to be hot even on low....

You have the right "brand" of crock pot but most people don't realize that crock pots come in different "wattage's". There are different ranges of wattage, 75-150, 100- 250, etc. If you look at the bottom of your pot you'll find the range that you have and may need to purchase another pot in a lower range which will help in various applications. Personally, I own 4 CP's, all with different wattage ranges. Here is a tip for you and those who may read this answer, on high setting the internal temp of your cooking product will be 180 degrees at the 4 hour mark, if it gets to that temp before the 4 hours then your using the wrong temperature setting, have a low mass product your ccooking or you're using a high range CP.

back to basics is very good appliance company and i even have one of their crockpots and i have never had a problem with it.HOPE THAT HELPED
