Wow, I haven't answered a Y!A for awhile. So, don't flame me if I forgot how to do this:

Aikido would beat your knife, hands down. All they need to do is Grab Your Wrist(tm). It's a proven fact. Stevey Seagull does it all teh t1m3z.

Obviously Krav Maga would just kill you. With an M-16. At around 100 yards. Because nobody ever expects the Krav Maga Inquisition!

But, do it anyway. You'll make alot of money off the suckerrrrrr I mean the students of this honorable and underpriced system. Soke Necroth says that Soke Judomofo, 10th Dan of KnifeMagaJutsuDoSooDo is a great guy, a notable martial artist, and will be inducted into many Hall of Fame organizations (for a non-refundable fee of 250$ per induction, of course).

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...but don't the Black Eagles in the Phillipines already practice something very similar to what you're talking about?

You also failed to mention what would define this as an "art" as opposed to a system. It sounds like you are just developing a self-defense course for those who weild knives. Arts include a cultural aspect to them (such as how Karate upholds a lot of tradition) and you mention nothing about that other than your target audience.

Also, not to sound too disrespectful but, if you've only dabbled in several arts and systems...what would qualify you to become a creator of an entire martial art? Even Krav Maga, which is realitively new, was developed by someone that actually knew and had an understanding of combat. He didn't just take a few classes here and there and decide that he knew what was best. This doesn't even take into account the generations and generations of students and teachers that worked to refine their particular arts.

I guess what I'm getting at is...can you back up your qualifications for creating a new brand of martial arts?

Ok let me see if I have this correct. You want to teach a martial arts that centers around knife fighting. It is okay that you want to invent a new martial arts, but what if you dint carry a knife wherever you go?

A lot of people in the Yahoo! Martial arts category ask "Oh what is a good self-defense" and people would say "oh just carry a stun gun or pepper spray" well the problem is are you going to carry that around with you everywhere you go? For ladies that might not be a problem because they have a purse. But for guys, where are you going to put it? In your pocket?

What I am trying to get at is, that you should also incorporate some hand to hand combat too, because I am sure not everyone is going to carry a knife with them wherever they go, especially in a school setting.

And it is really important that you are a VERY experience martial artist yourself. With years of knowledge and training. Because by teaching other martial arts your teaching them how to fight if their lives are threaten.

You know, some of the Sayoc guys train with three knives in one hand. If you can teach me how to defend against that and add an additional two on there (just to say I more than one-upped them), sign me up.

Though I'm not exactly an inner city youth. Will that be a problem?

I like Krav Maga and Escrima. I don't like Karates and Jujitsu they suck. You will need a lot of martial art experience to even develop your own fighting Martial Art. Have you studied other martial arts before? A lot of people that try to develop there own martial arts seem more like a joke. It seem like they don't understand what the movements in that system is all about. They just watch movies and try to take all the good stuff and put it into there own martial arts. That is crap. I am not trying to be rude but just some suggestions.

This is certainly a joke, but I must have missed what the object of the parody is. On a serious note, it might be better to develop an art that doesn't require carrying a concealed weapon.

Maybe just manufacture a suit with spikes sticking out in every direction, sort of the like Hellraiser guy's head.

I want my son to learn martial arts, but not what you want to teach, why would you want to teach some one how to throw a knife at some one who is running away, you sound like a psycho, I am sure your students will all end up in prison

in many cases, the two are artfully misleading. paintings may be poetic in its capability to inspire, jointly as poetry may be paintings from the pictures it creates in the innovations's eye (no longer the hidden one).
