Clinton Portis for Lamont Jordan and Laveranues Coles?

This trade is tempting to me because I've a weak crop of wide receivers:

Greg Jennings, Reggie Brown, Vincent Jackson and Devery Henderson. My other running backs are LT, Cedric Benson and V. Morency. My league starts 2 RB's, 1 R/W, and 2 WR's, so my preference is to start 3 RB's per week. Thoughts and opinions?

It's definitely a sell-high thing for the guy who owns LaMont. But you're right, those receivers are lookin uhuhuhgleee! Yeah, I'd do it. LaMont could be returning to 2005 form. Even if he only splits the difference between his 05 and 06 outputs, he'd be flex-worthy. And Coles oughta be a big improvement over your receiver choices, even if Chad's out a while and you don't get PPR.

Still, you could likely upgrade a receiver off the waiver wire, however. McDonald or Furrey or Welker this week. Or Bobby Ingram or Nate Burleson against that horrid Cincy secondary. Likewise for Curry or Porter against Cleveland. Tell the other guy you're real interested, but want to see one more week of LaMont/Portis action. Consider dropping one of those four (hoping that at least one of the other three'll come around), and try a one week plug and play approach.

    -Regards

I would take that deal in a heart beat. Clinton Portis is a good player but is losing carries to Ladell Betts who I think is better anyway. Clinton also has an injury problem. Lamont Jordan is going to be a good fantasy player for the next few weeks while the #1 back is out. If he keeps putting up the numbers he may be there to stay and you got a steal. Laverneus Coles is a top fantasy receiver. He plays hurt and finds the endzone pretty often. Take the deal..the list of receivers you have are very weak and you need the help.

i'd do offer either Cedric Benson or V. Morency as trade bait for Jordan but not Clinton Portis. As for your wr's they suck i'd look into trading all 4 of those guys get you 2 for 1 deals for better wr's. Give up Greg Jennings and Reggie Brown for Coles and then look for another 2 for 1 with Vincent Jackson and Devery Henderson for another top tier WR then just go find 2 better free agents

Don't do it. Lamont Jordan's carries will drop after week five, when Dominic Rhodes comes back from suspension and they start splitting carries again. The Redskins are now a running team, and a winning one at that (meaning more second half carries). Portis has looked very solid so far, and will only get better. Coles will get you some yards, but he's not a regular touchdown guy. If you want to trade Portis, that's up to you, but you ought to be able to get more value for him - he's a top 15 player.

Its a gamble - do you think Portis will stay healthy? Im betting he does and at 4.9 yrds per you are losing out on the deal. People were staying away from him in my league and I thought he was a steal - he is a record breaker. Remember - his injuries were a dislocated shoulder in the 2006 preseason and a hand injury at the end of the season (hence the perception he is injury prone). I think it was bad luck and he can bounce back.

Unless you're in a PPR league, don't do it.

Potis is on a much improving Offensive team. Lamont will ride the pine when Rhodes is back in two weeks, and Coles never sees the End zone!

Not a bad pick up with Coles, but remember that Lamont Jordan will be sharing time with Dominic Rhodes once his suspension is up. I would accept the trade knowing that Rhodes is my third running back.
