Smokings banned in public places ok so why do non smokers drive 'cos they're killing the planet?
I'm a smoker who uses public transport i dont drive and as the law stands in the uk im only killing myself yet the roads are full of non smokers in their cars!
I sense a double standard.
I use the tube everyday (when they're not on strike or a signal failure has happened) and smokers fund the nhs far beyond their need for it ever!

I sense a non polluting bus?
Also smoking is not a pollution issue.

Public transport users do NOT have a bus each
You are wrecking the enviroment by driving your own car
You cant get around that statement and there is no comebacks to it
do you really think being in an enclosed room with a smoker will cause you more damage than being in a room with your car running???

"does nothing whatsoever to mitigate the fact that second hand smoke is deadly!"
Please provide verifiable sources for this statement, or a verifiable source
(good luck with that)

You are right!
In my opinion is nothing to do with the environment or second hand smokers....is just another rule put in place to control the people(by the government).
If they would stop the drivers that will make a big hole in their budget.....who will pay road+car tax and their wages?
I know a 84years old smoker that hasn't died! Why do you need to die if you smoke?
Is not the smoke that kills you......it might kill me 10 years earlier but what is the point living until 150 years old?
Be like a heavy weight for my children and grand children?
No thank you!!

If i drive a car i can also offset my carbon emissions by planting trees etc. A smoker cannot offset the 2nd hand smoke in my lungs haha...
Anyway its fun cooling off outsides clubs now we are allowed outside without paying to get in again!

Are you one of these naive people who believes that pollution in our towns is caused by private motorists? Most of the pollution in towns is caused by buses, with huge, old, poorly maintained ( due to cost, brought about by deregulation ) Diesel engines which chuck out far more carcinogens than passively inhaled tobacco smoke.
So by using public transport AND smoking, you're inflicting pollution on us twice over!

u will never stop cars being driven, public transport is just as bad, smoking is unecesary and causes many harmful diseases that as a non-smoker if you do not wish to breathe in others smoke you should not have to.

I'll stop bashing smokers when I don't see piles of cigarette butts at every freeway offramp. Not every smoker is an irresponsible git litterbug, but too many are.
Quit smoking and improve your live. We're all stupid about something, but most of us don't show it on our faces five minutes of every thirty.

This is a classic false dichotomy, the one has nothing to do with the other. The fact that car fumes damage the environment does nothing whatsoever to mitigate the fact that second hand smoke is deadly!

You don't give people cancer by driving. Cars driven by the public actually make up a very small percentage of the pollution and damage to the atmosphere, it is the large businesses and corporations who do most of the damage. I don't usually drive, I ride my bike, keeps me in shape which is a good thing.

transportation is considered a necessity to life
smoking is considered a luxury not a necessity & cosly habbit to person & public money NHS
