yes, that's a virus
don't know why it happened after updating, maybe it wasn't a real (official) update, but see this:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=5524...
may be possible that you have other underlying malware issues which resulted with a fraudulent update.
if you think that may be the case here's some basic malware removal information: ----------------------
You do want to disable your Windows System Restore before cleaning, otherwise the virus can resurface thru the restore files. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310405
if you do a search for the name of the malware there will sometimes be a tool available to clean the specific malware. you also should do general cleaning.
all of these are free:
Run CCleaner first (just run it with the default settings). You'll get a better idea what infections you have when running anti-spyware scans. http://www.ccleaner.com/
Spybot: http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html
After updating switch to advanced mode, to do so select “mode” from the toolbar and check “Advanced Mode”, it will ask if you want to switch modes, say “yes”. Now you have multiple tabs on the left of the screen, select the “tools” tab and click on the “IE Tweaks” icon. Make sure that you check “Lock Hosts file read-only as protection against hijackers”. After its updated select the “Immunize” icon, click on the green + to immunize your system. This will help prevent any new spyware/malware infestation by blocking new items. THIS MUST BE REDONE AFTER EVERY UPDATE SO THAT YOU ARE PROTECTED AGAINST THE LATEST THREATS.
Also scan with Ad-Aware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_aware_free....
AVG Anit-spyware: http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/20/lng/us/...
Someone else here recommends this app instead of Spybot and Ad-aware, you might want to give it a try: http://www.superantispyware.com/
Also, Javacool Software's SpywareBlaster for resident protection: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.htm...
You can get BitDefender8 as an on-demand virus scanner:
http://www.bitdefender.com/PRODUCT-14-en--BitDefen...
You don't want to run two resident anti-virus programs but using one as an on-demand scanner is fine.

in case you're one hundred% specific you downloaded it from Mozilla, the subject i think of is the registry. that's some thing you would be wanting somebody with somewhat some journey to p.c.. by way of (no longer a software), and interior the period in-between, you should acquire Safari 3 For abode windows, Opera 9, or (i think of) Konqueror, all 3 are very stable high quality browswers, with Konqueror and Opera each and each being the terrific in specific factors.

I don' t have any message like that. I do have a message asking "do you want to make Firefox you default?"
Why don't you try contacting their online help?
Good luck.
