Sometimes I can't figure where some people get there information. The shortest possible route is just under a thousand miles. The route I would drive, I-75 South to I-10 in Florida, then due East to Jacksonville is 1,073 miles of all interstate driving. Total driving time would be 18-20 hours a hard 2 days drive, but it can be done.

I would time my drive to go through Atlanta between 9 AM and Noon. Other than that it's an easy drive. I'm 66 years old & wouldn't have any problem with it.

Your fuel costs can vary depending upon you driving type and your cars mileage. At 15 miles per gallon you're looking at $215, one way if fuel is $3.00 per gallon. If you can squeeze 20 miles per gallon out of the car then you're looking at $161.

Good luck and drive safe. Drop your speed to 60 MPH and you might even save a few more dollars on fuel, but you might be looking at another night in a motel.

You would need about $500. I'm in Detroit too... and have relatives and friends in FL... It would take about 2 or 3 days driving if not stopping and depending on your speed..

    Have fun! Drive safe.

(after reading following posts.... ) Like I said... ABOUT $500 and ABOUT 2 or 3 days lol....

    Approximately $588.40

(based on AAA's formula at 56.2 cents/mile x 1,050.71 miles according to Mapquest)

Seems a bit high... If it's just you going you may be better off just flying or going on the Amtrak or train.

Source(s): P.S. "Arthur R" I got my information from the AAA website and from Mapquest as noted above, two reliable resources. It's an approximation, the cost will obviously vary depending on speed, type of car, traffic, etc.
