Stuck inDos mode and can't get back to Windows 98 am in a loop ,can anyone Help?

I tried both suggestions and I am still stuck in the loop. It keeps opening in DOS. Thanks for your in put.

My many thanks to J-M-Camilleri and 5735guy. Your suggestions were both terrific. How ever I just discovered that I was in Normal mode and didn't know it. It looked like Dos-Mode. I found out today that AdobeType Manager altered Windows system file. I got that fixed and everything is up and running normal. My husband was ready to use a hammer on it! Hugs to both of you for all your help. Going to get a new PC but have been waiting for Vista to get the bugs out. Thanks again Liz

    If you are stuck in MS-DOS mode at the command prompt type

    WIN /W:X

    and hit enter. That should return you to Windows

    Service pack 1 is coming out early next year or so(rumored). I suggeest you wait for some reviews on that before buying vista.

    Try typing EXIT and hitting enter while on the DOS commend prompt. The "command prompt" look either like

    C:\WINDOWS>

    or

    C:\>

    Simple type "EXIT" and hit enter after this.
