Why did it take 2 hours to extract my wisdom teeth? Why was i convulsing on the ride home, and why did i bawl

It took around 2 hours, and immediatly upon awakening i started to bawl profusely. Also my sister said i was having some convultions on the car trip home, she said she was kinda scared she didnt know that all that was going to happen after a wisdom tooth sergury. I barely remember any of that but my face was so huge and they gave me steriods. Has this happened to anyone?

Update:

I DIDNT KNOW I WAS HAVING CONVULTIONS AT THE TIME I WAS SO DRUGGED UP, MY SISTER TOLD ME TODAY. i HAVE 4 WISDOM TEETH REMOVED AND 1 MOLAR.

Were you convulsing or just shaking / shivering? It's normal to shake and shiver after coming out of anethesia and like the other poster said, crying is normal, too.

Crying after coming out of anesthesia (whether it be general or twilight sleep) is normal. It's happened to me. Convulsing, on the other hand, is not. Did you call your doc to let him/her know that it happened? I don't think that's normal under any circumstance. Oral surgery sometimes takes a while because if the tooth isn't completely out yet then they have to make an opening and get it out. So 2 hours for the surgery doesn't sound like too much. The facial swelling is normal and will pass. Your sister should have taken you to the ER when you started convulsing. Are you sure that's what happened or is that what she thinks happened? If it happens again, call your doc IMMEDIATELY.

If you had to be put to sleep to have the tooth removed it sounds like the root was rapped around the jaw bone. I have never heard of the other symptoms happening before, I would have went straight to the doctor, convulsions after any procedure isn't a normal reaction.
