potty training?

My lab puppy keeps peeing by the back door on the patio. It is staining the concrete and we would like him to stop. How can I make him pee in the yard?

try putting him on a leash and walking him out wherever you want him to go and kinda wait there till he does his thing. You may have to do this over and over for a while, but he will eventually get it.

I'd spray some "no go" or something like that in the spot by the door that you are trying to deter him from using.

    Good Luck

  • If you go to almost any pet store, you will find something called Piddle Pads. For some reason, dogs are attracted to them. Place a few of these in your yard. Maybe a few of them hidden so that your puppy can find them himself, making it more fun. After you start noticing him going in the yard, take the pads away one by one. Replace them every two days, or as you notice them getting used. Make sure to weigh them down so that they don't blow away. If this doesn't work, then look for something in the pet store to spray on the patio with an unpleasant smell, only smelled by dogs.

try scrubbing the spot with white vinegar to get the pee smell off, he goes there to pee because he's already "marked" the spot. after you get the smell off try using weewee pads, put the pad on the spot where you want him to pee and occasionally take him there and let him smell the pad. or you might want to keep him in a crate with the pad until he gets used to peeing in the pad. you can then start to move the pad farther from his crate and eventually to the yard. that's what i did with my dog and it worked. another technique you might want to try is taking your pup out after he eats, after he wakes up and before going to bed. when he goes in the yard make sure to give him a treat and praise him, he'll know he did the right thing..:)

good luck in training your puppy!
