which AGP 8x video card?
Hi! I have an AGP based pc with a Geforce 4 Ti 4200. I'm thinking about upgrading only the video card.I have two questions:
1) It would be a good idea or the improvement that I could have would be only slight and so I should wait and buy a new pc?
2) Which video adapter should I buy (in case it's worth)?

A new card would give you more than a slight boost in performance over a Ti4200. You can pick up an ATI based 512MB X1650Pro for about $90 on Newegg. A new card would tide you over until you get a new rig. Just make sure you dont buy a video card that needs more power than your PSU has. You may not want to buy a new puter now anyway.
The new video cards are coming out supposedly in November, Vista SP1 is due out in Nov. too, DDR3 is too expensive and has lackluster performance right now and Intels 45nm cpus are gonna be out near end of year. Any computer bought today will be yesterdays news by January.

Hi, yeah if u upgrade ur vga card ur pc will work great. You can hold out buying a new till 2010 at least. I suggest that u get a Nvidia XFX Geforce 6200 512mb AGP 8x card.
Good Luck!

7900GS is the terrific value, if possible discover it. usually $one hundred. 7950GT is greater effective. yet another stable one is the 1950 professional from ATi. 7600GT is much greater decrease priced yet not the terrific, yet terrific for value. regrettably, you will discover upgrading to pci-e may be the terrific path to take by using fact the 8800gt and gtx are acceptable performers.
