I was just following the Atlanta Milwaukee baseball game...?

on the Yahoo Game Channel (Cub fan, biting nails) and one of the play entries said "Hall to second base on fielder's indifference" WHAT THE HECK DOES THAT MEAN??? I mean... I know what a fielder's choice is, but what is "fielder's indifference" ?

that is when they let the base runner take 2nd instead of trying to throw him out. It does NOT count as a stolen base.

Fielder's indifference is when the defense makes absolutely no baseball move towards getting the batter-runner out. In other words, no fielder moves to cover second, the catcher generally does not stand to throw, the pitcher doesn't move out of the way, etc.

Not Prince Fielders indifference ha ha. It means that Hall stole second without a throw. No stolen base.

haha...i noticed that, too. It made me laugh. but yeah, it's what the initial answer said it was. It usually happens late in the game when it doesn't matter, though.

at least the braves pulled it out. go cubs.
