When applying for financial aid, the considered me a "independant" student....?

I am 20 years old. but i thought they took into consideration your parentals income when applying for fin. aid.? is it because i have a child, or because i am a single mother? No husband?

    If you have a child that you support then no, you do not have to put your parents income. But you do have to report any child support you received the previous year, or any TANF benefits.

    if your parents support you then you have to report their income. and you are the one that fills out the application so you must have put yourself as independent.
