For $700, Dell has a great warranty plan you can get and you can get replacement parts almost anywhere. Just go onto their website and if you know what you want, pick it out. If you want to customize it, they'll let you do that too.

Another place to check out is http://www.pricegrabber.com/ They have a lot of good deals on laptops since they pull inventory from a lot of internet dealers. Just pick what specs you want and the search will filter.

By the way, I'd try to stay away from Windows Vista. However, if you must; get a laptop with at least a 1.8GHz processor and more than 512MB of RAM. It's a resource hog.

You can still find a lot of laptops brand new online that have Windows XP.

in case you have funds bypass with a MacBook Air. yet once you're finding for something extra affordable i could bypass with a splash Dell computer, they're like a 9" exhibit and are somewhat powerful little machines. they are going to look after all your elementary notice courses and internet comfortably.

I got my brother a Gateway, it has all the stuff you need for school and you could get a fairly good one for 900 dollars. I personally prefer to make my own computers but these are the sites i recommend:

    or
