how can i winter my mexican palm...its in a large plastic pot?

Need to know where you are and what zone you are in. Some Mexican palms are fairly hardy. If it is not hardy where you are you can submerge it in the ground and wrap with burlap in the worst weather, or put in in a place that doesn't get hard frosts, preferably with a window.( No artificial heat if you prefer to return it to the outside.) Give it a bit of water if you put it undercover.Good Luck!

Grab it by the base of the trunk and haul it inside. That's a landscaper's technique. Best to carry 2 at a time, ballance...

Garbage can lids are great but* buckets for 5 gallon + pots, even a rectangular rubbermaid lid will work to protect the floor. Some light, some water, weak feed now and then (weak MiracleGro solution) then plunkem back out after freeze.

If you need a forklift to transport it or it won't fit inside, I'm no help. You need a greenhouse built around it depending on your zone.

Palms need plenty of light... what I reccomend is taking it in for the winter since it's in a pot. When we take our plants in for winter, we set up a space in the basement and hook up some grow lights so it has a place to stay healthy all year long.
