Should I buy Tivo HD?
I don't like the way the Comcast DVR works since they switched the interface. Using a home theater PC is not an elegant solution. I'm trying to decide if I should buy a Tivo HD and dump my cable box in favor of CableCard.
A longer explanation is here:

Should I make the leap? What should I watch out for? Any Tivo owners with good advice here?

Hi Jake,
Absolutely buy a TiVo HD. We have a series 3 and now they have come out with a new HD model at a greatly reduced price and it works great too.
We prefer TiVO because of simplicity of use. The schedule is always correct because it is updated every day. I can program TiVO to record from out of town over the Internet. TiVO learns what you like and recommends shows that you might like. Often times we never would have known they were on. You can program an entire season of a given series with a single click and TiVO never forgets. You can tell TiVO you like someone or something and it will locate shows for you. For example if you tell it you like John Wayne it will watch for and record anything he is on.
With my series 2 TiVO I can transfer recordings to my computer, edit them if desired then record them to a DVD. You can also allow TiVO to share pictures and music from your computer. It will play the music and slide shows on your TV. This function will be available on the HD TiVo and the series 3 TiVo in November.
I could go on and on about TiVO. There is one downside and that is the monthly (you can pay yearly if you want) fee.
To learn all about TiVO check their web site here - https://www3.tivo.com/
Check the TiVO user forum here - http://www.tivocommunity.com/
The TiVO Community Store often has good bargains for TiVOs or accessories. Check them for current pricing along with your local Best Buy - http://store.tivocommunity.com/merchant....
You need either a phone line or internet connection for TiVO to download software updates and program information.
I hope this helps you make the best decision.

have you ever heard of "Cable taking part in cards"? some television's have Cable Card slots. instead of a field - the CATV enterprise supplies you a card which plugs into the television and the coax. This takes the region of a exterior field. usually there is not any month-to-month condo value, yet they'd would desire to deliver somebody out to hook it up and activate it so there could be a cost. So ask approximately cable card once you look at a sparkling television. The HD version of a Tivo field has cable-card slots so this permit you to purchase a $3 hundred HD Tivo field to apply with the cable card so which you have DVR valuable properties to boot. Dont purchase off of eBay as those instruments are probable stolen and are not nicely suited with your interior sight CATV gadget. The cable field's are usually distinctive for each cable gadget so which you would be able to not merely plug one from yet another enterprise into your cable. this may well be a factor of the piracy secure practices.
