What can you tell me about Montreal?

I'm a freshman university student from Ecuador wishing to study in Canada next year. From all the places i've made research, Montreal is the one that really caught my eye. Can anyone tell me how is the living and people from Montreal. Could anyone give me some tips to save money once i'm there?. Feel free to tell me anything you think i should know. Also, how is Concordia University? What opportunities does it give, any tips from current or former students from there.

I don't mind speaking frech, i'm currently learning it at my university. I'm still not fluent but i'm pretty close, I already got a DELF A2.

    Montreal is great, Con U is great. Friendly, laid-back, party-filled.

    You might not like the winter too much! First snowfall, yes, but then you might find it rather cold.

    To save money--try to live with a roommate or two, in a heat-included apartment. Buy your winter gear second-hand at Value Village or Renaissance Montreal or the Salvation Army. Look into living in NDG and taking the Concordia shuttle bus, instead of living downtown or having to buy a buspass.

    It is a wonderful cosmopolitan city with lots to do and see. The winters are cold and snowy and the summers are hot and sunny. Montrealers are now mostly French-speaking (many speak no English) and very nice. I'm out of date with the university situation but my ex-husband went to Concordia a few years ago and like it very much. Public transportation is good and affordable and there are lots of places to buy food to make your own meals or fast food places, as well as wonderful upscale restaurants.

    What a wonderful adventure you are contemplating. I envy you!

    Montreal is a great city, but it's in Quebec so there's a lot of French spoken.
