In Michigan: Can my ex-husband have domestic violence removed from his criminal record?

In Florida they cannot get this removed by expunging, he would have to hire an attorney and pay huge amounts of money to attempt this. I would also contact your local victims group through the courts or law enforcement and explain your fears to them. Also on another note, there are support groups online as well as offline to help victims of dv get through things like this. It is called empowering yourself. This is the hardest thing one can ever do (I know because I go through it daily). Just because he is not physically abusive to you any longer does not mean he is still not committing dv. DV encmpasses much more than battering or physical abuse. He is financially and mentally abusing you right now with these bully tactics. This is similar to a batterer telling the victim to drop charges because he will go to jail. He is trying to make you believe that he cannot do anything with this noose around his neck.

Well he put that noose there. He chose to batter and abuse. Get CSE to help you in regards to your cs. Empower yourself too!!!! Take baby steps and you will feel less and less victimized.

They are on his permanent world records and in multiple records

He may have them sealed or expunged . That will take lots of money and time.

There are many cops out there who have domestic violence convection's against them . the only thing they cannot get is a concealed carry permit.

There are convected felons with hi job positions (as in CEO's) I have worked for store managers who were ex-convects.

He is using this as an excuse . you need to get the court to keep his child support up to date.

the DV charges and listings will remain with him for as long as he lives. Michigan is not going to remove them, expunge them or anything else. He is just going to have a hard time finding work within the state that will pay him more then 9-10 bucks a hour. Dont let his lies worry you further. He will be on the state registry go check it out for yourself.

Domestic violence convictions cannot be expunged. Even though in some states, that is a misdemeanor, it also is part of the criteria for not being allowed to get a gun permit. They won't expunge that, and take a chance on him being given a permit to become a more lethal wife beater.

this will always be on his record, but that wont help his future girlfriends unless they find the open records (dont know if they have open court records for you state..(they do in wisconsin)

him using that as an excuse not paying child support is a bunch of bull, he needs to stand up and face his responsibilities. is he even putting it down on job applications? that could be a reason they dont hire him, he may not even mention it and that is a legit way to toss his application out for not disclosing that information if it is required.

i would suggest talking to your local PD as well, they will help clear up questions you may have.

it's not your fault that he is/was violent, it's his own fault if he cant get a job, he never should have raised his hand to someone.

I would doubt if he could get it removed as it is a second offense, even if the first one was removed, it would still show up in a background search if another case ever came against him. If he is so worried that he cannot find a job because of the second time, maybe he should have thought of that before.

No he can't. But women rarely look up their boyfriends records. Lots of people convicted of crimes get jobs, they just aren't great ones.

Invent a time device. bypass back in time. hook up with a much less douchy guy. it is the only way. you may could exchange certainty. you may no longer exchange the checklist to examine non-certainty, that may no longer allowed.
