  • To marry or not to marry, which has less income tax (U.S)?

I am a divorced mom 2 kids, I claim them- both head of household. My fiance owns the house and deducts that on taxes, he made about $47,000 last year. I'm a little less at about $42,000. The ex-husband pays nothing in child support so I need to keep as much as I can for the kids.

I think that If we marry our combined incomes and the "married" standard deduction will have us paying more money to the IRS. Am I correct?

I really see no benefit to get married at this point other than to shut up his grandmother.

No comments on religion, morals etc. PLEASE :)

    Thank you!

  • Where in metro Detroit could I get true French windows?

I don't want casement windows that open out with cranks. I am looking for a French window that I could open in, not have a dividing piece of frame between the two windows and not have to have a screen. Basically I'm looking for a French door on a smaller scale to fit a window opening. thanks.

  • How should I grade my students on their report cards? I just started teaching this past Monday.?

A sub had been in the class for a month since the original teacher left for another job. I have a ½ foot tall stack of papers to be graded that I just received from students Friday. Report card grades are due Monday. I should to give the students credit for the work they’ve done but I am overwhelmed with the amount. I am considering two options: 1. Give credit for the sub’s work and base my grade off that, but no list of assignments as left, I would be guessing at how many assignments were assigned and how many questions in each, and hold onto my assignments to put onto the next report card. 2. Put aside the sub’s assignments and base my grade off the original teacher's and my one-week’s worth of grades. I am troubled by both options because the original teacher gave almost every student an A, and the quizzes I gave this past week indicate that the majority of student are operating at a level below passing, it appears that they guessed at everything and do not comprehend the topics.

  • In Michigan: Can my ex-husband have domestic violence removed from his criminal record?

He has two domestic violence charges (found guilty both times), one he got probation and after six months they cleared it off his record. The second "recorded" incedent is still on his record. There are pictures of the damage done to me both recorded incedents. Now he wants to have it removed from his record, stating that he can't get a job to pay child support because of it. I need to know if it is possible for him to have it removed and how I could prevent it. I am fearful that someother woman will fall for his lies and end up dead. Please help. I feel like I am the one being punished.

  • Plumbing: Does a drain for a bathroom sink have to approach from the back of the sink?

OR can I re-route the drain to enter from the side?

My bathroom sink is located in a corner with the back to an outside wall. The builders installed the the drain pipe to come up through an interior wall to the right hand side and turn the corner 90 degrees to get into the outside wall so that the drain could approach the sink from the back. This sink clogs constantly due to all the angles - I have to remove the trap and clean the pipe in the wall every four months and the smell from the pipe clog is horrible, like straight sewer gas. I would like to know that if I tear off the drywall and route the drain to come from the interior wall straight to the drain, to remove the 90 degree turn in the outside wall, if it would still meet code?

In the picture the Pink represents the CURRENT drain and the white tape represents what I want to do.

the house was built in 1979 and I don't know what they were thinking when they did this.

  • Why would a 1999 Mustang Cobra not be getting fuel even after installation of new fuel pump?

The car turns over but the pump doesn't pump fuel to the fuel rail. Fuel filter is new. We checked inertia shut off switch as well.

We let a relative drive it for two days while we went on vacation, it was parked for five days after that before we went back to pick it up. Everyone else swears it couldn't have been caused by bad gas (I personally think the relative put in some 86 octane instead of premium). They also say its not the gas cap, which can cause problems on Fords. Has about 10 gallons of 93 premium in the tank now.

This one has even stumped the neighbor who works at Ford testing engines. Please help!

  • Are there any other adults who had pyloric stenosis as a baby and have a weight problem now?

I'm a 31 year old female who had pyloric stenosis surgery at two weeks old. I'm just wondering if there is any correlation between the surgery and being overweight as an adult.

    Thanks.
