Do you think it's outrageous to pay $20 for a CD or $100 for a concert?

While People like 50 cent or who ever else makes millions upon millions. Shows like MTV's Cribs show the lavish life style the these people live. Have you changed your music or movie going habits based on this.

Don’t get me wrong, I am all in favor of people getting what the market will allow. I am a capitalist. But as a consumer, why do we allow this.

Update:

I very much agree that teacher are one of our greatest resources and are greatly under paid.

I was in the military for 20 years, so I know first hand the sacrifices that they pay.

If we all just stop buying them, the price would come down

Many things in life are not fair. People who save lives get paid little but athletes make millions. The men and women fighting right now to keep us free don't get paid enough to keep their families. Half the world is starving so Yes, $20 CD's and $100 concerts seem too much. I guess if you can afford it then it is up to you do you want to pay it?

We pay because we want. Has nothing to do with value, we want to be at this concert or want to have that CD. A CD probably has a whole 90 cents worth of product in it but the entertainment, ahhh, that's what we want and what we pay $20 for.

As to why do we allow it? We live in the United States, free market. Pay for it or do without. We don't control the other guys price; supply and demand sets a price, then each of us decides if we want to pay the price or do without the product.

Why do consumers allow it? Because they want the CD or the concert tickets enough that when they hear the price, they pay it anyway.

The only rational thing to do is say, "No, it's not worth that" and wait until you can buy the CD at a discount, forget the concert. Remember it's only one night, however fine the memories may be.

    I agree 100% and that's why I don't pay $100 for a concert or $20 for a CD.

well the CD price isn't too bad especially if you love the CD you are buying and you will get unlimited hours enjoyment from it. But paying $100 for a concert or more is outragous when it's just for a couple of hours enjoyment!

Well I know that unless it was a real once in a life time oppourtunity to see the band playing then I wouldn't pay it.

However, my brother has saved up in the past for a whole year just to go to America to see his favourite bands because they don't come over to the UK.

He also bought a CD for £85 or something.

It just depends on the person and what they believe it's worth to them.

If you would rather pay £1000 to see a band than go on a nice holiday or pay off your credit cards then fair play to ya.

I think the CD price is outrageous! I won't pay that. I will pay the concert price IF it is a good show and IF they are excellent seats though.

I think it is outrageous I have better things to do with time and money than purchase cds or attend concerts..

I'm kinda old, so I won't pay that much. It's ridiculous. I'll sit home and listen to my cheap old CD's and cassettes and pretend I'm at a concert..............

Not for a moment.....the market will always balance out....when the tide turns, as I think it is now doing...you will see a change
