Lost cell verizon phone - insurance claim must be made within 60 days?
I purchased insurance ($5/month) when I purchased a cell for my daughter. The phone was lost last spring, but we just got around to requesting a new phone under the insurance. The response, from the insurer that Verizon outsources its insurance to, was that the claim had to be made within 60 days of loss, so no coverage.
Does anyone have experience with this situation? Seems totally irrational and unreasonable to me (why would an insurer impose this restriction)?

That's completely rational to me. Why wait this long to make a claim if the phone was lost last spring? THAT's what doesn't make any sense. You have to look at it from their point of view. Since you waited so long, it looks like you are trying to scam them. I'm not saying that you are, I'm just saying that's how they are going to see it. If it were me, I would have made the claim right away.
