Whats the best way to achieve bouncy curls?

My hair is naturally.... blah. Its not quite curly, not quite straight. If I let it dry naturally after a shower, it gets wavy, but frizzes. My normal routine for the past few years, has been to blow dry, and then straighten. Not only am I tired of doing this, but Im tired of wearing it straight all the time. I've tried so many different products, and techniques for wearing it curly, but my hair always seems to come out, well, bad. lol. Can anyone help? How can I get those bouncy looking curls?!?!

I have hair just like yours.....wavy that starts out nice, but gets frizzy as the day wears on. Like you, I straighten every day. It's not good for our hair though. I have hair that is past my waist. Here is how I curl mine:

Take about 9 inch by 1 inch strips of fabric (doesn't matter what kind, just soft). Curl 1 inch sections of hair around the fabric just like it is a roller or hot roller. tie ends of fabric. Repeat for all your hair; sleep on them (they are comfortable). You will have great springy curls that last! If you want less curl, use more hair on each piece of fabric. This is a very old fashioned way to curl hair, but it is good for your hair because the fabric is soft and no heat is used.

I have tried the blow dry with a diffuser, scrunch as you dry method, but all it does is tangle my hair and make it frizzy. Might be because my hair is so long, but it doesn't work.

i have the same kind of hair as you and tried for years to copy tips from magazines etc. all to no avail. if someone says try a mousse, don't bother - IF it curls theyll look wet and HIGHLY unfashionable (i take it you want to look nice). The only way i have found that will make my hair stay in bouncy curls is to take sections of your hair and pull tightly away from your head with your straighteners (GHDs are best) whilst twisting the straightener away from your head as you pull. Do the bottom section first and then hairspray it, then the top and hairspray it.

Thats how i do it anyway - make sure you have a heat protection serum/spray as it will mean applying alot of heat to your hair.

You could also use curling tongs but i find that straighteners give a more natural curl and will pull the frizz out of your hair

    Good luck

ok, now we all know people have different textures of hair, but there is hope for you. What you may want to do is to the hair dresser to get this done. Ask for shirley Temple curles. If she looks at you like you're crazy then you need to leave. When she sets the rollers in, makes sure she uses a setting lotion, this will hold ur hair. Its not strong like spritz but it will hold. After she sets your hair with the rollers sit under the hair dryer for... depending on the length of your hair, 2 hours, give or take some time. Make sure the setting lotion is dioluted before she uses it. Once your done under the dryer, wen she taked them out, make sure she takes the rollers out moving down yet in a ciccular motion. Then separate them and go. And you should have to look you're looking for.

Put curling mouse or regular mouse in your hair, blow dry it dry and the curl your hair. The mousse will heat up and mould to the shape of the curl :)

I have the same hair as you,

If you try frizz control shampoo and conditioner. that always helps!!!

Blowdry and then set in curlers.

Play with it and see what you like best
