I have a 2001 Chevy Impala, the turning signals stop working when ever they want to.?

its either your fuses (located down where your pedals are in a plastic box, and/or your light bulbs (remove the screws from your taillights and "push-twist" (lefty loosey.... rightie tightie) so you can see if any of the filaments are broken (although it may not appear burned out, sometimes it will rattle the filament to land right and then off intermittently) check to make sure there's nothing pinching down on the wires (tail gate, trunk or stuff you store there loosely) I would also replace the signal "pot-clicker" while your at it this way if its still a problem, the next thing to check would be the actual switch the brake pedal activates when pushed (in the case of brake lights) or the turn signal....and/or the main lights switch. Remember any combination of fuses, light bulbs, or on-off signal pot, can cause malfunction, and since these are inexpensive replacing them all, will keep you from being frustrated when the others just happen to wear out (they typically last close to the same amount of time) if you replace just one taillight, the other will wear out withing a couple months (in other words)

2001 Chevy Impala Problems

This is a very easy problem to fix. The problem lies in the hazard/flasher all-in-one switch, which controls both your hazard flashers and your turn signals. These switches were poorly made and end up wearing out prematurely. The part itself should be about $55 from a GM dealership.

To replace it you need to remove the instrument panel face, unplug the switch (the black button with the red/orange triangle), and pull it out, then put the new one in. Instructions on removing the instrument panel facing can be found here: http://impalahq.naioa.com/HowTo/Dash.html

I do not have the money to take it to someone is there anything I can do to repair this my self?? Sometimes the turning singles work and sometimes they do not, yes it's in the wiring, but where do I begin to track down the problem?? HELP ME PLEASE !!! Thanks for your help.

Hi Kim, I have the same problem with my 2001 GM car. One turning signal doesn't work at all and the other goes too fast. So maybe it's a problem with the 2001's. Good luck to you.

I had the same problem. its your hazard button switch. Needs to be replaced. Either the socket part or the button itself. Mine ended up only being the button.

This is usually just the flasher module quitting on you. Replace the complete hazard switch/flasher module and you'll be okay.

my flasher works fine. its the turning signal that sometimes works and sometimes does not work. Could it still be the flasher button even though the flasher works fine?
