I would definitely still be a metalhead but my tastes would be way more confined. Back when I was a freshman (two years ago) my friend got me into a lot of metalcore and deathcore and I think that (along with stuff like Rage Against The Machine and System of A down cause I was already into them). I've loved that music ever since but that along with the computer has gotten me into other kinds of heavy music. There would be almost no way I would have found all the really small bands that I have found on the computer and love now! MQ1: I think I kind of answered that question already haha MQ2:I don't think it would be the same actually. The internet has gotten me into more of Pantera's stuff that I never would have listened to before. I think my favorite band would probable be my 2nd favorite band now, Whitechapel. They're a deathcore band.

The greatest invention is undoubtedly flight.

Flight has shrunk our planet, and allowed travel to be accessed by many people when it used to be the preserve of the very rich. In little over 100 years it has caused the greatest transformation our planet has ever seen.

The greatest discovery? penicillin, it has saved millions of lives. Go to any old graveyard and see how many people died at a young age, and compare to today where many of us in the developed world can expect a long life, thanks mainly to penicillin.

Done? A man stepping on the moon is probably the greatest achievement.

The greatest invention must be the wheel, without it most of life would stop as we know it.

The greatest discovery is Fire. Again most of us would be dead without fire.

The greatest thing man has done, not destroyed the world .... yet (very close though on a number of occasions)

Beer... or to be strictly accurate Real Ale.... the art of brewing is extremely ancient... and the pleasure obtained by pouring pints of the stuff down your throat exceeds any other including sex .

Shakespeare said " It provokes desire but takes away performance.

The great problem facing the world is not global warming it is overpopulation which leads to excessive resource depletion and its consequence is global warning but our mealy mouthed politicians and lemming like voters ignore this fact ... so does the Roman Catholic Church.

If all chaps drank plenty of ale... performance would diminish and the world would be saved!

Lots of very useful inventions and discoveries, but I cast my vote for penicillin discovered by Alexander Flemming : -

Alexander Fleming - Wikipedia, His discovery of penicillin had changed the world of modern medicine by introducing the age of useful antibiotics; penicillin has saved, and is still saving ...

    http://www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Fleming

Penicillin was the very first anti-biotic - others and more advanced anti-biotics have followed and continue to be discovered. Without the discovery of penicillin it is very doubtful that many of us would have survived as we have. I got tonsillitis in c1962 aged 21 and were it not for penicillin I could have died. I probably would have died in an earlier age.

Farming. The step from hunter/gatherer to farmer was an emormous one which led first to small communities, then towns, cities, bartering, trade, writing, metalwork, transport, roads, money and - CIVILISATION!

Without farming, meaning raising crops and livestock, none of the other steps could have taken place. We would still be gathering roots and berries and chasing prey animals around a wilderness landscape with flint blades.

I was going to say discovering we don't have to live by religion to make us good people, but judging people on how they treat others. There are all the obvious answers here, so how about spectacles and deaf aids?! And musical instruments.

How to create fire was vital, along with the wheel.

The greatest achievements of modern man are mathematical and scientific, particularly Sir Isaac Newton's laws and theorums on universal gravitation, acceleration and opthalmics., we all owe so much to the greatest physicist, possibly the greatest man ever to have lived.

Space. i think thats one of the greatest things man has discovered. We know that this is not the only planet, that there are others, perhaps with life on them?

Other things: contraceptive pill and the medical field, and transportation. Also sanitation.
