Doctors vary on this, but my pediatrician said you could try peanut butter after age one as long as there was no family history of peanut allergies. If there is a family history, he said to wait until age three. When/if you try it, do a small amount and watch him like a hawk for any reaction. Most kids if they will react its usually mild the first time, just hives, so call the doctor if you notice any issues. Good luck!

Some sources say one year, some say two years, and some say three years. There really isn't a consensus.
Also if your child has any other allergies, a history of allergies or allergic disorders (such as eczema or asthma) then you should delay peanuts and shellfish as long as possible NOT because these are the most common allergens but because they are generally the most serious reactions.

Doctors advise parents to keep their children away from foods linked to severe allergies - such as eggs, fish, shellfish, peanuts, and nuts - until they're 2. The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) recommends that children not eat eggs before age 2 or any sort of nuts or fish until age 3.

Nuts (except peanuts) 2 - 3 years

If there is none of the above in you or your child's history, however, then peanut butter can be a healthy addition to the diet even before your child turns 1 year old.

It relies upon on if u have any peanut hypersensitive reactions interior the family members, cuz then that's superb to attend til they're a minimum of two years old, yet while u have not have been given any peanut hypersensitive reactions, yet do produce different nutrition hypersensitive reactions interior the family members then that's superb to hold off too, whether til in basic terms approximately 18 months or so. If there are actually not any nutrition hypersensitive reactions of any variety in ur family members then u could have ur toddler attempt some peanut butter now, as he's a minimum of a 300 and sixty 5 days old. i attempted my son with peanut butter formerly he grow to be a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days old, i think of he grow to be approximately 10 months old, and it grow to be in basic terms a lil bit, and he did not have it alot, in line with probability a lil bit as quickly as a week til he grow to be over a 300 and sixty 5 days old, then he began having a lil greater, and having it maximum ordinarily, approximately 2 or thrice a week. Then commencing at 15 months old he began having a PB and J sandwich for lunch as quickly as a week, and on occasion he has peanut butter on crackers as a snack, once or twice a week. If u choose to verify approximately while precisely u can commence giving ur toddler a style of peanut butter then i'd recommend u to ask ur toddler's pediatrician, however the advice i gave u grow to be the advice my son's pediatrician instructed me. desire this facilitates and good success, :D

If there is no family history, 12 months is when you can introduce peanut butter. Don't give him nuts of any kind though as he may choke.

I thought 1 year. NOT ok. Gave her only one cracker with a little pb and she immediately broke out in hives. In the emergency room I was informed drs are now supposed to tell parents wait till 2-3 years.

my youngest is 3 so i may be wrong but i do believe its 1 yr. i have 4 children though and its hard to say no to one. so what i did was spread the peanut butter really thin, but there are no alergies to peanuts in our family. the alergy reason and the choking reason are the reasons you should wait.

WAIT on this and call your doctor. There is a particular age after which they have the stomach enzymes to digest peanut butter and not a minute sooner, but I don't know that age anymore.
Do not leave it up to strangers on the internet either. Call your doctor, or his nurse, and find out and go by their recommendation.
For now, NO WAY until you know for sure.

I don't know if this is accurate, but I believe 2 is the typical age before you introduce eggs, shellfish, or peanut butter, due to allergy concerns.

NO! my sister-in-law is a pediatrician and she says you should wait 3 years before giving your kids peanut butter. otherwise they could be in store for a lifetime of nasty peanut allergies..
