I see a commercial for AZO alot. Also drink Cranberry juice.
But here is some info I found:
Home Treatment
You may be able to cure an early urinary tract infection (UTI) if you act promptly when you have the first symptoms of a UTI, such as pain and burning with urination. Home treatment steps that may stop an infection from progressing include:
Drinking lots of water, along with cranberry juice, especially during the first 24 hours after your symptoms appear. This will help make the urine less concentrated and wash out the infection-causing bacteria. This may alter some of your body's normal defense mechanisms, but most doctors recommend drinking a lot of fluids when you have a UTI.
Urinating frequently and completely to empty your bladder each time.
To relieve pain, take a hot bath or lay a heating pad over your genital area. Never go to sleep with a heating pad in place.
Self-treatment of recurrent UTIs
If you are a woman who has frequent uncomplicated UTIs, your doctor may write a standing prescription for antibiotics to take if you develop symptoms of a UTI. If you and your doctor agree to follow this approach and you develop symptoms that you are certain are caused by a UTI, follow your doctor's instructions for taking the medication and monitoring your symptoms. Be sure to notify your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or if you start having UTIs more often than in the past.

I would try picking up the phone and calling my doctor. That's starting from home...
seriously...
I have a good friend who started off with some uti's and was lax in treating them and instead they became kidney infections. You DO NOT want to damage your kidneys. If you were on antibiotics and they didn't work, perhaps you have a resistant strain, in which case, it's pretty important to get back into the doctor.
I know it's hard to go somewhere all cold and clinical when you're hurting but, you really need to.

If you really hurt you need to go to the doctor. They even have meds to make it not hurt when you pee ( I know personally). If you wait too long the uti can spread into your bladder and kidneys and cause permenant damage.
If you are prone to uti's and can feel one coming on, just an achyness etc, THEN you can drink water and cran juice but dont wait more then a few days before seeking medical help. Also, be sure they know you were just on meds and what kind. AND be sure to ALWAYS finish your anti-biotics even if you feel totally better (or it will usually just come back).

You say you have a UTI. What I am about to say has to do with bladder infections, not kidney infections. If you have a kidney infection, see a doctor ASAP.
Cranberry juice (and cranberry tablets) have been clinically tested and proven to prevent bladder infections. They are currently being clinically tested to see if they can cure bladder infections. There is a substance in cranberry juice that keeps bacteria from adhering to the inside of your bladder. That has been scientifically proven.
So try the juice, and drink a lot of it. One of the things I found out about the research is the more, the better.
Cranberry juice will not help the pain, though. For that I recommend a substance called phenazopyridine. Azo is one brand name, and there are probably generics that are cheaper. Over the counter at your drugstore. It will turn your urine bright orange.
Whether your infection goes away with cranberry juice or you end up taking antibiotics, keep on drinking cranberry juice every day. If you have a lot of bladder infections, you can preven them.
If you get a fever or urinate blood, go to the ER.
I am giving you a link to the National Library of Medicine fact sheet on cranberries, so you will know it is not just my opinion.

i've read in a book from our school library that cheese and yogurt and berry juice can help cure uti. That is because the "friendly" bacteria in yogurt and cheese make it harder for UTI-causing bacteria to find their way from the rectum up the urethra, the tube that carries urine out of the bladder. As for the berry, it can be any (cranberry, blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, strawberry) thats freshly squeezed or made from a concentrate with no sugar. Hope this helps (i have the same problem and it could really be a burden)

No you should really go back to the doctor. If your UTI goes untreated for too long you could severely damage your kidneys. Get checked out. You may need a different antibiotic.

I agree! you've already had antibiotics without a result. Usually they will send a culture of your urine to a lab because different bacterias need different anti-biotics, some work better than others. you need to tell the Dr it has not gone away and he will probably do another culture and give you a different antibiotic. Go ASAP! It is very serious to let it go on this long, bacteria grows fast and it can become serious, it is beyond cranberry juice. Good luck!

Oh yes, the pain - I do feel for you.....
Try drinking a huge amount of cranberry juice tonight, like about 2 quarts (2 liters), just down it. I've tried the capsules from the health food store, and they just don't cut it.
I think it's the cranberry + the sheer volume of fluid.
If that doesn't work - back to the doc. You need antibiotics and pyridium (which coats your bladder, eases the symptoms, and turns your pee a really neat orange colour).
Good luck!
