laptop hard drive ?
I just had a new hard drive installed into my g4 power book ( apple mac laptop that is ) and I wanted to know how to find out exactly which hard drive I have got. I know about the system information tool, that gives me serial number and information like that but not a make , model, RPM or any extra info.
Before you say take it apart, no I am not going to do that !!!
first off everest ultimate edition is for windows ( not mac os x ) you know who you are and you obviously did not read the question.
Second of all the capacity has nothing to do with which model it is as there are about 3 or 4 120 gig and 3 or 4 100 gig western digital hard drives.
I can not speak with the person who did it because I only paid for 100gig hard drive and ended up with what I believe is the 120 gig drive because when I first got it, it told me that I had 111gb free ( that was before I installed the OS just so you are aware )
So taking all that into consideration the only way I think I am going to find out is to use the system information utility in the utils folder and match that up with the table that western digital give on there website.
Other then the above please suggest something different if you can think of anything else.
Thanks

My partner has a g4 powerbook!
run disk utility!
my g5 tells me that I have
a 149,1 gb ST3160023AS
a 467.5 gb LaCie
a 111.8 gb WDC
a 279.4 gb Maxtor
...
when I click on any of them, more info comes up than I cared to know.
