I would like to start a day care in my home.I live in Dutchess Co whats the steps that I take ?

It depends on wether it will be a private daycare for just a few kids from friends or if you want your home daycare to be licensed. In both cases it would be a good idea to go to the small business association and get yourself a business start up kit (free) to find out if you need a tax number. If you want your home daycare to be licensed, you also have to contact the licensing evision of the department of human services for all requirements and regulations. Good Luck.

In NY if you take care of 3 or more children for three or more hours you fall under the regulations of the NY State Office of Children and Family Services. Call the Child Care Council of Dutchess

County at 473-4141. They will be able to help you get started on the process. Good luck.
