Did Jesus ever say "Serves 'em right"?

When considering the poor, did he say things like "If they'd just get up off their lazy butts....."?

When considering someone who had worked hard, underpaid for years, whose very livlihood could be denied him by some foolish whim of his employer, who has no gaurantee that he won't end up on the street, unable to get medical help, unnecessarily dead at, say, 57 years old would Jesus have said "If they can't make it in the greatest nation on Earth, it's their own darn fault"?

Why can't the neo-cons see that they are simply lying when they claim to follow him?

And isn't there something missing here? Such as liberal outrage? Why are these people still in office?

Update:

WOW!...A lot of answers quick!

Just gotta ask the right question, huh?

Anyway. Mistress, I agree about work-fare. I have no problem with that. My concern is that there are a lot of people in this society whose livlihoods are not a bit secure. And one party thinks this is a good thing, though they're too smart to admit it. The other party apparently did not think this is a good thing at one time. But they're not doing a thing about it now.

There are people in this society who want a hungry working class who are not meant to live beyond their ability to work. Those of you who agree with this aren't going to agree with me, I know. Some of you will insult me, report me, stuff like that.

But for those of you who agree with me that this situation is abhorrent to any society that claims to be a standard for the world, then we need to either light a fire under the Democrats or desert to a party that will act like a proper opposition.

Jesus never commanded that anything be written down. He did command us to Love God and Love our neighbor. The Bible Alone doctrine is a man made doctrine, not found in the Bible. Go Figure. The Bible does teach: 1 Cor 11:2 hold fast to traditions I handed on to you. 2 Thes 2:15 hold fast to traditions, whether oral or by letter 2 Thes 3:6 shun those not acting according to tradition Jn 21:25 not everything Jesus said recorded in Scripture 2 Peter 1:20 no prophesy is a matter of private interpretation Rom 10:17 Faith comes from what is heard. Mt 16:19 Peter given you keys of the kingdom; power to loose or to bind Jn 21:17 Peter given Christ's flock as chief shepherd Acts 15:19 Peter pronounces first dogmatic decision Gal 1:18 after conversion St Paul visits chief Apostle Acts 1:13-26 Peter heads the election of Mathias as Apostle Finally Eph 2:20 Church IS built on the foundation of the Apostles.

Someone said don't throw your pearls to swine though. Can't remember who that was...probably old testament. I totally see your point and agree with what you are saying. It seems the Christian right are going about things all wrong. There is plenty of outrage by the way, that is why democrats picked up so many seats this last time around. Hopefully we will pick up some more this next time too.

And to mistress... .It is not just women on welfare, and as I understand it you have to work in order to receive it unless your baby is under a year old. There are a lot of men recieving welfare benefits as well and what makes me sick are the one's who refuse to work and live off their women who are on welfare. To me that makes them twice as bad as the the woman.

Hey Dznutt or whatever you are, how is the questioner a hypocrite? I see no where in his question that says he lives by the standards set by Christ. It is you republicans that claim to be compassionate then turn around and kick the poor while they are down that are hypocrites.

By the way people, there is no God or Heaven or Hell and the Bible is the best fairytale ever written.

Did Jesus ever say"Help the poor by taxing the rich"?

How about "Help the poor by stealing from haves to give to the have nots"?

How about "Help the poor, not because it is the right thing, but because the government puts a gun in your face"?

Nope, none of that. Jesus said to help the poor by giving them the shirt off your back. YOU help, don't pawn it off in the government.

    Jesus was perfection.....

    we are human....

and just so you know...i don't mind helping... i am a caregiver by nature.....but there is a point where giving to those who won't....WON'T work becomes annoying....

i have worked since i was 15 years old...and i refuse to pay a woman not to work! and we do it all the time! welfare should be workfare...even if it is nothing more than picking up garbage along the highway....

oh i know...i know! it is "belittling" to ask someone to pick up trash along a highway....but then i have to ask...

it isn't belitting to pick up your food stamps and welfare check??? GEESH!

those who truly can't work? not a problem for me...i am glad to help...

those who can? getcher' butts ta' work! and don't expect others to pay for your laziness!

Jesus loves you too. He knows your hurts and fears. He also said there will always be poor people. So why not try to help those in need.

We're not Jesus...that's the point. We all have freedom of choice..especially in America. Unfortunately the people who take advantage of the system make helping those that really need it a bitter pill to swallow. Not a difficult concept for you to understand is it?

(2 Thessalonians 3:10-15) “. . . If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread. But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good. And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.”
