No they cannot be cleaned. DPFE (Delta Pressure Feedback Exhaust) sensor has two silicone hoses hooked up to it that come from the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) tube. The DPFE sensor tells the computer when the EGR valve is opened and how much exhaust gas is entering the intake. Problem is that exhaust gasses are very corrosive and they get into the sensor and ruin it. Ford sells a lot of these sensors. If your sensor is made of aluminum your new one will be plastic. Don't be worried, the plastic one are "supposed" to be better. Hope this helps.

I don't know of anyone being able to clean a DPFE sensor. If it is bad, it should be replaced. You don't want to replace it unless you have verified that it has failed, or you will be throwing parts at your car and wasting money for no reason.

Ford had a recall on some DPFE sensors at least on the Taurus modular V6 engines. The check engine light comes on. I changed mine myself but it's hard to get at it near the firewall.

$40 from the dealer, but check http://www.autozone.com/

I'd take it in to the dealer and get them to fix it for free. It's under the fifty thousand mile emissions warranty.
