Is Halo a rip-off of Larry Niven's RingWorld?
I have just played a PC game caled Halo - it depicts a world which looks a lot like Ring World. Is Larry Niven gettting Royalties from this? If not, Why not?
The World of Halo is a giant steel ring with land and sea on the inside - a classic Ring World, designed and built around its sun. The intro to Halo looks just like the cover of the RingWorld Engineers novel.

If you want to think about it, everything dervies from everything else.
There may be enough difference to prevent it from being a true "rip-off"

If it is a rip-off, it won't be a famous game until now. The main theme is galactic wars and soldiers are common so they have some similarities, that's it. Halo is the best FPSgame ever, it spawned a few action figures line. comics, novels and in the future, a movie.
