No - The Direct Debit should still be set up. There is no Automatic cancellation of the Direct Debit because of a failed payment. 3 have the option to represent this for collection after 5 days or add it to your next bill and let you know about the new amount. I'm with Virgin Media and I set up my direct debit over the phone with them. The trick is to press the option where you speak to an adviser, rather than go to the automated self service option! That is a nightmare!
Good luck!

If your talking about BT I can't believe whats happened to them.
Last week i tried to change my friends and family numbers, after listening to music for 5 minutes this man comes on who can't understand a word I'm saying ,nor me himtold what I wanted to do and he started with my best friend number,it took him 6 minutes to get the number I was telling him and he said he had changed it,I said I want to change some more,he said you can't ,so I asked for his name and he hung up on me!!
I was fuming,I reported him and they said they will retrain him,can you believe it?
Why have they moved the call centre to India the money they are making,I'm looking for another provider now.

Don't do it you end up paying more in the long run, I know someone who did and then reverted back to the old way.
